Preparing your DV-2009 Application
| The
U.S. Department of State issued Lottery Application guidelines with instructions on how, when and where you need to prepare and submit your lottery application for entry into the annual Visa Lottery Program. The Department of State rejects all applications that do not adhere to the guidelines or comply to all the requirements.
Over 2.5 million applications were rejected for not meeting the stringent requirements.

| 4. | Name, Date and Place of Birth of Dependents |
| | Spouse
You must list your spouse even if you are separated from your spouse or your spouse does not intend to immigrate to the U.S. with you. Failure to list spouse's details will disqualify your application. Spouses are automatically included as derivative beneficiaries of your lottery application. In the event that you are selected, your spouse would also be able to obtain a Green Card if he/she choose and are otherwise eligible. To increase your chances of being selected, your spouse may also complete a separate application listing you and any children as derivative beneficiaries.
Children
You must list all your children who are unmarried and under the age of 21 years, whether they are your natural children, your spouse’s children by a previous marriage, or children you have formally adopted in accordance with the laws of your country, unless a child is already a U.S. citizen or Legal Permanent Resident. Failure to list all the children will disqualify your application. Unmarried children under the age of 21 are automatically included as derivative beneficiaries of your lottery application. In the event that you are selected, your unmarried children under the age of 21 will also be able to obtain a Green Card if they choose and are otherwise eligible. Unmarried children between the ages of 18-21 can also file a separate application (in addition to being included on your application) as long as they meet all of the eligibility requirements (lottery country native, education/experience, etc.) of a principal applicant. If your children are married and/or are over the age of 21, they must qualify for the lottery independently and file their own separate lottery application. |
